Following this year’s tremendous success at the 2018 Tumbling British Championships, six gymnasts from Milton Keynes Gymnastics have now been selected for Team GB to head out to St Petersburg, Russia this November.
3 x World Champion and European Team Champion Megan Kealy will represent Great Britain in the Senior Ladies Category alongside her team mate William Breslin in the Senior Men. Megan has already competed at several major internationals this year getting her senior career off to a great start and what is shaping up to be a promising future as a senior athlete. This will be a big test for both athletes as this is their first Senior World Championships. Off the back of a very successful year for both we would like to wish them the very best of luck. Both our seniors will head out to St Petersburg, Russia the week before the juniors from the 3rd – 11th November.
Jack Leahy will lead our juniors from Milton Keynes Gymnastics in the 15 – 16 Boys category, already taking European Team Gold in Baku, Azerbaijan earlier this year all eyes are on him to perform and potentially improve on two world silvers in 2017 & 2015. Jack is one of Great Britain’s top Junior Tumblers having a vast amount of international experience already and for just 15, Jack is an inspiration to many.
Jake Parry stepped up massively this year earning his place in the 13 – 14 Boys Category. This will be Jake's first World Championships and the start of fantastic career within tumbling. Claiming a bronze medal at this year’s British Championships Jake has everything to gain heading to Russia.
Freddy Liggins will be representing GB in the 11 – 12 Boys category. This is also Freddy’s first World Championships, so this will be a big test for the youngest member of the Great Britain Team. After narrowly missing out on the podium at this year’s British Freddy will be eager to show the world what he has in store.
Lastly will be 4 x British Champion and 2017 Bronze medallist Naana Oppon in the 11 – 12 Girls category. After already dominating all domestic competitions this year and bringing home the gold from international duties earlier this year, Naana is keen to get out to Russia and prove she has what it takes to be with the best of the world.
The juniors will head to their competition with their coach Mikey French who has also been selected as Coach for the World Age Group Championship Team from the 12th – 19th November 2018.
From everyone here at Milton Keynes Gymnastics we would like to wish them all the very best of luck.
